Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District

Community Update: Masking Mandate

December 12, 2021

From: Dr. David McDeavitt

On Friday, December 10, 2021, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court of the Commonwealth Court's affirmed that the school district masking mandate is no longer in effect. Decisions about mitigation efforts now go back to the school districts and their health and safety plan. This means the K-12 masking policy at A-C Valley will change Monday morning upon arrival at the district.

The Health and Safety Plan has been school board approved, and provides our students, staff and families with the choice to make their own decision about masking, while on campus. Keep in mind that masks are still required on our buses and vans.

All other mitigation efforts are still in place; remember to stay home when you are sick, wash your hands often, and maintain social distance when you can. Personally, due to the ongoing spread of this virus, I still plan to wear a mask in high traffic areas and around people who may be sick.

If you have questions or comments, feel free to contact me at the district this week.

Have a great Sunday!
