Welcome Back to School Message
August 24, 2021
We are sending a “BIG” Welcome Back to School to all the A-CV students who are returning to campus tomorrow. The staff at the district are excited to have our students in face-to-face instruction for the start of this school year. I want you to know that the school board, administration, teachers and all the support staff have diligently prepared our educational program to meet the needs of all our students.
We are planning to continue with our mitigation efforts to help keep students and staff safe. To help with this effort, I ask that you access our website at acvsd.org and review the Health and Safety Plan to ensure compliance. The health and safety plan covers 10 different mitigation strategies, but the one strategy that we need your help with is monitoring all COVID symptoms, and staying home when you are sick or had close contact with a COVID infected person.
As previously stated, wearing a mask while on campus will be optional for you and your family at this time, although we do encourage masking for those who have underlining medical conditions, people who are unvaccinated, and others who feel they need an extra layer of protection.
The one area where mask are mandated is on the bus and vans, according to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/pdf/Mask-Order-CDC_GMTF_01-29-21-p.pdf to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 based on President Joseph R. Biden’s https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/01/26/2021-01859/promoting-covid-19-safety-in-domestic-and-international-travel issued January 21, 2021. The Transportation Security Administration soon followed with a security directive implementing the CDC order (https://www.transit.dot.gov/TransitMaskUp).
We understand the past two years have been hectic and our teachers and staff want to help our students in any way possible. To ensure this is taking place, I ask that all parents follow our chain of command. If your child is experiencing difficulties or that you have a question, we ask that you contact their teacher first and then the principal afterward. If your concerns have not been addressed after speaking with the teacher and principal, I ask that you contact me at the district office.
*In response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, USDA has issued nationwide waivers which effect School Nutrition Program operations in the 2021-2022 School Year. Our district has submitted an application and we are told that our students will receive free breakfast and lunches until our application has been approved. We are told that we are eligible for free lunches and that our packet will be reviewed in October.
In closing, we ask that you continue to be patient with the district and how we work with and handle COVID cases along with the PA Department of Health. We currently have one COVID case and over 10 people quarantined at this time.
Do you part to keep COVID out of the district and always - Dream Big, Work Hard, and Act Responsibly.
