COVID Update 11-13-2020
I am calling the A-CV community to provide an update on our long range instructional planning. Our goal was to return to face-to-face instruction on Monday, November 16, 2020, but due to a recent change in Clarion County’s designation, we will be staying on the distance-learning model until Friday, December 4, 2020. This change is due to the recommendations for distance learning from the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Pennsylvania Department of Health. These recommendations are due to Clarions COVID transmission rates and the continued increase in local COVID cases. Clarion recently moved from moderate to substantial and under this designation, PDE/DOH recommends distance learning to slow the spread of this disease. At this time, there are 38 counties in the state that are in the substantial category.
The A-CV teachers and staff will report to campus Monday morning so that they will have access to their supplies and teaching materials. The district will be working closely with families’ with special circumstances to ensure their child’s educational needs are being met. When the clarion county career center reopens, we will send our students to the CCCC for hands-on instruction. Although this closure does not permit the athletic programs to begin, all athletics and extra-curricular programs will remain in their current state of closure.
In addition, we are expanding our breakfast and lunch options. The district has received a waiver to allow alternative meal service programs for its students during the extended closure. Families may opt in to either "Home Meal Delivery Service" or "Curbside Meal Pickup" at this time.
Families will need to sign up for this program, the forms can be found on the ACVSD Website or the ACVSD Facebook Page. We ask that each family fill out the form in its entirety by Sunday, November 15 2020 so that we can drop off the food starting this Monday. Please complete one form per student in the household. If internet access prohibits you from completing this form, please contact Mr. Grasha at (724) 659-5820 Extension: 2144 to assist you.
Please stay safe.
