Online Learning Expectations
This is an important message for the families and students of the AC Valley School District regarding our current educational programming. Our number one goal continues to be to educate students in the most effective way possible. Due to the current outbreak of COVID 19 cases locally, we have been forced to use a completely online format. Noone prefers to educate your children in this manner. We all feel that it is not the most effective way to accomplish our goals.
Expectations for online learning rely heavily on the families at home. This is a challenge for everyone involved, especially parents. Students must log into their classes every day. The first step they should take is to go to the district website and complete the attendance tracking form. The second step is to log in to their Google classrooms. For the high school, there are multiple classrooms that the student will access. They must complete the assignment for the day AND complete an exit slip to close that classroom out each day. For the elementary school, there are assignments in math, reading/English, science and social studies for each grade level as well as a special class students should be completing each day. Students also need to complete the grade level and special class exit slips as a final step every day.
The three steps described are very important for maintaining accountability for your child as well as our accountability to the state attendance requirements. Finally, teachers will be conducting at least one Google meeting each week. All students should do everything in their power to attend these meetings.
The only way to get back to some sort of normalcy in our district is to help mitigate the spread of this virus as much as we can. Please make sure you mask up in public, wash your hands regularly and continue to maintain social distancing.
We all look forward to getting back to school as we know it best: Face to face.
Please stay safe, stay healthy, and have a good day.
